Roots of Empathy - Baby Ella's visit - Wednesday 25th April, 2018
This morning we had the pleasure of welcoming baby Ella in to school for the next of our Roots of Empathy sessions. It has been over a month since her last visit and we really noticed how much she has changed and grown up during this time. Her hair has grown and she has certainly got a lot longer. She is now able to sit up really straight and she does not need to be propped up or helped to sit. She was able to use both hands to reach for and play with the toys Darren has for her. She really enjoyed playing with the hard, plastic Roots of Empathy balls today. Ella mostly used her right hand to reach for and hold the toys. Today she knew to put her hand inside the plastic pouch to get out the soft toys. Though she didn't enjoy playing with them as much as the hard, clear plastic toys. Today we talked to Ella's mummy about how she communicates with Ella. We heard Ella make some excited noises and when she sat down on the mat at first, she was a little anxious and looked for her mummy. We watched how excited and happy she was when we sang to her. She particularly liked it when we sang action rhymes and songs. Ella remains a very contented baby and she sooths herself by sucking on two fingers on her left hand. She has two bottom teeth up and two on the top coming through as well.
