After School Gardening Club Hard at Work
On Thursday of this week Darren and Mrs Moore were delighted to start the first of our After School Gardening Clubs. We were blessed with a dry and sunny afternoon and with a band of enthusiastic helpers, we achieved a lot in a short period of time. We made some bricks for the fire, using recycled paper, did some weeding, digging and preparation of soil in our raised beds. Some of us even managed to cut some of the stray branches on our willow tunnel. Mr Mills was a great help too. He showed us how much rich compost we have made with all of our recycling of peelings, apple cores etc from our Healthy Break each day. We managed to dig some of our own compost into the raised beds. It was great to get outside and get our hands and feet dirty. We are all looking forward to growing and planting over the next few weeks and months. The sunshine today makes us feel hopeful that spring is in the air. Our photographs show how much we all enjoyed working outdoors, no-one was work-shy. It is super to see so many children eager to get involved. Keep an eye out for lots of colour in the not too distant future.
