Visit from the Deaf Bus

1st Oct 2017

This week was a week for buses in school. On Wednesday we were joined by Jamie and Mark who came to talk to us about what it is like to have a hearing impairment. They spoke to the whole school in assembly and told everyone what it is like to be deaf. Mark taught us some sign language and we were all really impressed at how fast the interpreter was at keeping up with what Jamie signed and said. Some of the pupils in Mrs Moore and Mrs Kelly's classes had the opportunity to visit the bus. Inside we learnt so more about how to communicate with someone who is deaf and we even got to try on some hearing aids. We had a very enjoyable day with Jamie and Mark and we look forward to meeting them both again. Thank-you to Rebekah in Primary 3, who's Mum helped to organise this visit.
