Roots of Empathy - January - Baby Ella visits P3 and P4 Class

25th Jan 2018

On Wednesday 24th January baby Ella and her mummy visited Mrs Moore's P3 and P4 class as part of our Roots of Empathy Programme. It was over a month from they had last visited and we were all really looking forward to seeing each other. We quickly noticed a lot of changes in baby Ella since her last visit. She is getting much stronger and now has excellent control of her head and neck muscles. When she was put down on her back on the green mat, Ella immediately lifted her head and two legs, doing crunches to try and pull herself up. She did this a number of times and when she was lying on her back, Darren put Charlie down beside her. Ella almost rolled over on her side to have a better look at the doll. She enjoyed sitting propped up in front of her mummy and watching all the boys and girls. We sang lots of nursery rhymes and songs for Ella and she really enjoyed our singing. This week we heard Ella make lots of little noises when we were very quiet. She was making happy and contented sounds, almost like little shrieks of excitement and joy. When we heard them we felt happy too. Darren introduced Ella to some of the toys in his Roots of Empathy collection and she was much more interested than she has ever been before. Ella liked watching Darren take the toys out and she even reached for a few. She was able to hold one of the balls using both hands together. We have never seen her do this before. We enjoyed Ella's visit and we learnt a lot from watching her. We look forward to seeing Ella and her mummy very soon in school.
