Miss Kyle and Mrs Moore's Classes Take Part in The Big Bird Watch 2017

27th Jan 2017

This morning, Friday 27th January, 2017 P2, P3 and P4 boys and girls took part in the RSPB Big Bird Watch. We looked and listened carefully around our school and went across to the Eco Park as well. We kept a record of the number of birds we saw and tried very hard to identify each of the birds. We listened carefully to the different bird songs and looked very closely at the different coloured markings on each bird we spotted. It was hard to tell some birds apart. We used a tally chart to keep a record of our findings. We really enjoyed doing the big bird watch and were surprised at the wide variety of birds we were able to see. It was great fun and we learnt a lot about birds and how to identify them. Our bird feeders in school are definitely encouraging birds into our school grounds. Mrs Moore and Miss Kyle will enter our findings into a special website and our results will be added to thousands of other people in the U.K and Ireland. As Article 29 reminds us, Education must develop every child's personality, talents and abilities to the full. It must encourage the child's respect for human rights, as well as respect for their parents, their own and other cultures and other cultures, and the environment.
